Duration: 2 minutes, 45 seconds
Look Out For: simulated flight, being suspended 17 ft above-ground, and some cartoonish animatronics
Opening in 1971, Peter Pan’s Flight is a sweet, timeless dark ride that lets you embark on an enchanted pirate ship and fly towards Neverland. But how scary is Peter Pan’s Flight? Let’s take a look at the ratings:
1. Ride Length
Peter Pan’s Flight has a duration of 2 minutes and 45 seconds.
2. Height Requirement and Warnings
Peter Pan’s Flight does not have a height restriction. This might make it a good choice for everyone in your party – not to mention that it’s a nice break from the Florida heat!
3. Ride Vehicles and Restraints
The Peter Pan’s Flight ride vehicles consist of individual cars – or pirate ships – that seat around 2 passengers each. Both riders share a single lap bar and the cars travel just a few feet behind each other so if you have a large party, you’ll still get to wave even if you’re not riding together.
4. How Does Peter Pan’s Flight Work?
The ride vehicles are attached to a track on the ceiling – allowing for guests to feel like they’re “flying” over the show scenes.
5. Is Peter Pan’s Flight Scary?
Peter Pan’s Flight is not intentionally scary. While it is technically a dark ride, this attraction lacks any spooky theming whatsoever and has a sweet, magical tone.
6. How High is Peter Pan’s Flight?
Peter Pan’s Flight does involve some heights. This ride not only simulates flying, but also involves being suspended above the show scenes with no track below you. While this is an indoor attraction and you’re never more than a few feet off the ground at all times (17 feet at its highest), Disney certainly works its magic to give you the illusion of flying high over the city of London or the mountains of Neverland.
7. How Fast is Peter Pan’s Flight?
Peter Pan’s Flight does not go fast. The ride vehicles move at a very slow pace, making it suitable for even the most sensitive of riders.
8. Does Peter Pan’s Flight Have Drops?
Peter Pan’s Flight does not have drops of any kind.
9. Does Peter Pan’s Flight Cause Motion Sickness?
This ride does not cause motion sickness to most riders.
10. Is Peter Pan’s Flight Claustrophobic?
Peter Pan’s Flight could be claustrophobic to some riders. The hanging ride vehicles can feel a little confining as there is no solid ground on either side of you – and therefore no way to step out of the vehicle once it starts.
Of course, you should never – let me repeat, NEVER – try to exit a ride vehicle unless a cast member tells you to, but this might be an issue if you were to get stuck on this ride. I know that’s not very common but if that were to happen, there is the potential of being suspended for a bit longer than you bargained for.
11. Are There Animatronics on Peter Pan’s Flight?
There are many animatronics on Peter Pan’s Flight. The many characters you encounter throughout this ride are animatronics. However, like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the animatronics are very cartoonish and not nearly as unsettling as some of the more realistic ones you might find on Pirates of the Caribbean or Spaceship Earth.
Peter Pan’s Flight Queue Walkthrough
The queue entrance is located outside – with a nice view of the ride vehicles, if you want to see them before getting on. You’ll continue outside before entering a themed indoor area with paintings of Captain Hook and other characters hanging on the walls. You’ll quickly pass through the Darling’s backyard and then find yourself in the nursery with some cool interactive queue elements to enjoy while you wait. This indoor part of the queue could feel a bit cramped to some riders but the interactive elements might help with providing a distraction.
You’ll get sprinkled with Pixie Dust (just a cool lighting effect) just before stepping onto the loading platform and preparing to board the ride vehicles.
Peter Pan’s Flight Ride Walkthrough
As the ride sets off, you’ll fly through the nursery, out the window, over the backyard, through the street, and over the entire glittering city of London.
You’ll then find yourself in Neverland where you’ll soar over its beautiful landscape, complete with pirates, mermaids, and other characters you’ll recognize from the film. You’ll pass Wendy walking the plank as Peter spars with Captain Hook before seeing our heroes saved, Hook getting his just desserts, and the glittering pixie-dust-laden ship as it soars into the distance. With that, the ride is over and you’re back at the loading station – and on solid ground!
That’s it! Remember, everyone’s riding experience is a little bit different and only you can decide whether to hop on that ride vehicle or not – I just hope this guide helps you be prepared and enjoy every second of your Disney experience!
