Opening on April 2, 2007, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor is an interactive comedy show starring our favorite monsters. But how scary is Monsters Inc Laugh Floor? Let’s take a look at the stats:
1. Ride Length
Monsters Inc Laugh Floor has a duration of approximately 11 minutes. As a stage show with live actors and interactions from the audience, it can of course, be a bit longer or shorter by a few minutes.
2. Height Requirement and Warnings
Monsters Inc Laugh Floor has no height requirement or official warnings from Disney. This could make it a great option for the whole family.
3. Ride Vehicles and Restraints
The Monsters Inc Laugh Floor theater seats approximately 400 guests on long benches. There are no ride restraints and the theater seats do not move in any way. However, as an interactive show, there is definitely a chance you will be chosen by a cast member to interact with the monsters on stage – though you won’t have to leave your seat at any time.
4. How Does Monsters Inc Laugh Floor Work?
Monsters Inc Laugh Floor works by projecting its monster characters onto a large screen and utilizing live actors as well as cast members to create an interactive comedy experience. If you are called on, a cast member may approach you with a microphone and you will be projected up on a screen – much like a “kiss cam” or something similar you might find at a large sporting event.
5. Is Monsters Inc Laugh Floor Scary?
Despite its many monsters, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor is not intentionally scary whatsoever. Its funny tone as well as its large and air conditioned theater make for a pleasant experience for most people.
It’s worth mentioning, however, that if you or anyone in your party is prone to stage fright, there is definitely the possibility of being picked to interact with the comedians. While all good-natured and hilarious, you may want to skip out on this attraction altogether if that sounds particularly unpleasant to you. Only a handful of guests are called on, but the possibility of being on-screen could certainly be scary to some people.
A few other things to look out for are the loud noises as well as lighting and smoke effects that go off after the “laugh canister” is full. Roz’s character could also be a bit creepy or intimidating, although she is not meant to be scary at all. There are no animatronics or costumed characters, so all the monsters will be exclusively on-screen.

Monsters Inc Laugh Floor does not involve heights. As a standard Disney stage show, you and your seat remain on the ground at all times.

Monsters Inc Laugh Floor should not cause motion sickness for most riders. With its large, air-conditioned theater and lack of any rushing visuals or spinning, there is really nothing in this attraction that could cause nausea.
10. Is Monsters Inc Laugh Floor Claustrophobic?
Monsters Inc Laugh Floor should not feel claustrophobic for most guests. With its high ceilings and interactive elements, this show does not feel very confining, in my opinion. In addition, you can always see a cast member and exit at any time. While it may be difficult to get around the other guests packed in around you, you can try sitting at the end of a row or back of the theater for an easier exit.
11. Are There Animatronics on Monsters Inc Laugh Floor?
There are no animatronics on Monsters Inc Laugh Floor.
Monsters Inc Laugh Floor Queue Walkthrough
The queue entrance is located outside in the Tomorrowland area of Magic Kingdom. Once entering the building, you will wind around a large Monsters, Inc themed room. You’ll then come to a second room where you will queue up behind the doors to the auditorium – much like you’d find in other Disney stage show queues. Throughout the queue, there are signs encouraging you to submit jokes that will be used later on in one of the show’s segments. This queue can get pretty loud with so many guests packed into one indoor area, but the wait time is not typically very long.
A brief 5 minute pre-show will play before the doors open, introducing you to the Monsters universe and explaining why they’re collecting laughter in the first place. After the video, the doors will open and you will be allowed inside to find your seats.
Monsters Inc Laugh Floor Walkthrough
The show begins with a friendly monster welcoming you to the show and introducing you to the monster of ceremonies, Mike Wazowski. As an interactive comedy routine, each show varies pretty significantly in which jokes are told and what kind of interactions you’ll see between the monsters and audience members.
Despite the variations, each show follows a three-segment routine where you’ll giggle at three separate acts as they bumble their way through the show. As mentioned before, cast members will select and approach guests to interact with the monsters on stage and create a hilarious and interactive experience. When the show comes to an end, the laugh canister is shown to be filled successfully and everyone celebrates. At that, the monsters will sign off and you’ll be free to exit the theater.
