Look Out For: a potentially noisy audience full of kids and a large on-screen whale

Opening on November 16, 2004, Turtle Talk With Crush is an interactive chat with our favorite sea turtle, Crush. But how scary is Turtle Talk With Crush? Let’s take a look at the stats:

turtle talk with crush

1. Ride Length

Turtle Talk With Crush has a ride duration of approximately 11 minutes. As a show with live actors and interactions from the audience, it can of course, be a bit longer or shorter by a few minutes.

2. Height Requirement and Warnings

Turtle Talk With Crush has no height requirement or official warnings from Disney. This could make it a great option for the whole family.

3. Ride Vehicles and Restraints

The Turtle Talk With Crush theater has a fairly low capacity, but also seats children on the floor right in front of the screen. The seats consist of long benches and there are no ride restraints or movement in any way. However, as an interactive show, there is definitely a chance you will be chosen by a cast member to interact with Crush on screen– though you won’t have to leave your seat at any time.

4. How Does Turtle Talk With Crush Work?

Turtle Talk With Crush works by projecting its main character, Crush, onto a large screen and utilizing live actors as well as cast members to create an interactive experience. If you are called on, a cast member may approach you with a microphone and you might answer a question or otherwise generally participate by talking to Crush.

5. Is Turtle Talk With Crush Scary?

Turtle Talk With Crush is not intentionally scary whatsoever. Its funny tone and kid-centered scripting make for a pleasant experience for most people.

It’s worth mentioning, however, that if you or anyone in your party is prone to stage fright, there is definitely the possibility of being picked to interact with the big turtle himself. While all good-natured and hilarious, you may want to skip out on this attraction altogether if that sounds particularly unpleasant to you. Only a handful of guests are called on, but the possibility of being put on the spot could certainly be scary to some people.

Aside from this, the entire show takes place in a fairly small and dark theater, though it has the same look and feel of the rest of the aquarium. There is no spooky theming whatsoever or even any sensory overload to speak of.

The only potentially intimidating moment in the show comes with the giant blue whale that Dory and Destiny call over by “speaking whale.” He presses right up onto the screen, pinning Dory (played for laughs), before swimming off again. While not meant to be scary in any way, the character’s huge size could feel a bit imposing to some small children.

6. How High is Turtle Talk With Crush?

Turtle Talk With Crush does not involve heights. As a standard Disney show, you and your seat remain on the ground at all times.

7. How Fast is Turtle Talk With Crush?

Turtle Talk With Crush does not go fast. Unlike some Disney shows, there are no moving seats or even rushing visuals on screen, meaning you will of course remain stationary for the entire duration.

8. Does Turtle Talk With Crush Have Drops?

Turtle Talk With Crush does not have drops. In fact, there is no movement or thrill ride elements whatsoever on this attraction.

9. Does Turtle Talk With Crush Cause Motion Sickness?

Turtle Talk With Crush should not cause motion sickness for most riders. With its indoorair-conditioned theater and lack of any rushing visuals or spinning, there is really nothing in this attraction that could cause nausea.

10. Is Turtle Talk With Crush Claustrophobic?

Turtle Talk With Crush should not feel claustrophobic for most guests. With its many interactive elements, this show does not feel very confining, in my opinion. In addition, you can always see a cast member and exit at any time. While it may be difficult to get around the other guests sitting around you, you can try sitting at the end of a row or back of the theater for an easier exit.

11. Are There Animatronics on Turtle Talk With Crush?

There are no animatronics on Turtle Talk With Crush.

Turtle Talk With Crush Queue Walkthrough

The queue entrance is located inside The Seas Pavilion in Epcot. As a small show that is not often filled to capacity, it really doesn’t have a queue at all. You will simply wait behind the doors to the theater (in the delicious AC, I might add) for the next show to begin. Aside from being in the lovely aquarium, it’s a great and relaxing place to escape the heat and rest your feet for a while.

Turtle Talk With Crush Ride Walkthrough

The show begins with a cast member introducing our favorite sea turtle friend, Crush. He comes flying in (on screen) and addresses the audience, stating that he wants to learn more about our world. Every show varies depending on who is in the audience, what questions are asked, and how each guest interacts with Crush – but the show generally consists of some basic questions mostly directed at the kids.

There will be a few guest appearances with Dory, Destiny, Squirt and a large blue whale (see the Is It Scary section for more details.) After a few short games and questions, the show will come to an end and Crush will bid you adieu, asking you to “be good to the ocean, dude.” With that, the cast member will close the show and you’ll exit through the right side of the theater.

That’s it! Remember, everyone’s riding experience is a little bit different and only you can decide whether to hop on that ride vehicle or not. I just hope this guide helps you be prepared and enjoy every second of your Disney experience!
