Look Out For: some mature lyrics as well as old (and arguably creepy) animatronic bears
Opening on October 1st, 1971, Country Bear Jamboree is a country-themed concert featuring our favorite family of bears. But how scary is Country Bear Jamboree? Let’s take a look at the stats:
1. Show Length
Country Bear Jamboree has a duration of 10 minutes. Like any stage show, you may spend a few extra seconds or minutes in the theater while other guests find their seats.
2. Height Requirement and Warnings
Country Bear Jamboree has no height requirement or official warnings from Disney. This could make it a great option for the whole family – aside from some mature lyrics and and some arguably creepy animatronics.
3. Ride Vehicles and Restraints
Country Bear Jamboree seats 380 guests in a traditional-style theater. Unlike many Disney World stage shows, the theater is not always filled to capacity – often allowing for some space between your party and the others around you.
4. How Does Country Bear Jamboree Work?
Country Bear Jamboree works like any standard stage show, seating guests in stationary seats facing a stage. What makes this attraction slightly unique is the entirely animatronic cast and lack of any screens or 4D effects whatsoever. While these practical effects are very charming, it does make the show prone to malfunctions – especially considering how old the animatronics are.
5. Is Country Bear Jamboree Scary?
Country Bear Jamboree is not intentionally scary, but might not be suitable for all guests. It’s worth noting that some of the lyrics can be a bit off-color or inappropriate for children – though many kids (and adults) might not catch them at all.
The most noticeable example of this is the “Blood on the Saddle” number by Big Al, where he croons about a grisly scene involving a lot of…well…blood. As I said before, there is no intense imagery accompanying any of the songs, but some parents might find these lyrics a bit jarring compared to the usual Disney fare.
Aside from the mature themes, many guests could be off-put by the often janky animatronics up on stage. As an opening day attraction, the characters are very old and have the propensity to malfunction often – landing them somewhere in the uncanny valley alongside Chuck E. Cheese. While all meant to be friendly and comical, some of the character designs don’t help with the creepy-factor, in my opinion.
6. How High is Country Bear Jamboree?
Country Bear Jamboree does not involve heights. As a standard stage show, you and your seat will remain on the ground at all times.
7. How Fast is Country Bear Jamboree?
Country Bear Jamboree does not go fast. In fact, there is no movement whatsoever on this attraction.
8. Does Country Bear Jamboree Have Drops?
Country Bear Jamboree does not have drops. Like most stage shows and performances, there are no thrill elements to speak of.
9. Does Country Bear Jamboree Cause Motion Sickness?
Country Bear Jamboree should not cause motion sickness. With its lack of any screens, motion, or 4D effects of any kind, there is really nothing on this attraction that could cause nausea.
10. Is Country Bear Jamboree Claustrophobic?
Country Bear Jamboree should not feel claustrophobic for most guests. While it is a 10 minute stage show, you can always see a cast member and exit at any time. In addition, the theater is rarely filled to capacity, making it a much more palatable theater experience, in my opinion.
11. Are There Animatronics on Country Bear Jamboree?
There are over 20 animatronics on Country Bear Jamboree. As I mentioned earlier in the Is it Scary section, some of these characters can be unintentionally creepy due to their age and propensity to malfunction. While none of them are people, their humanoid appearance and character design could come across as unsettling to some guests.
Many find the Country Bears incredibly charming, but to me, they’re certainly more than a little bit spooky. Because of this, I wouldn’t recommend this attraction to anyone who is easily frightened by animatronic characters.
Country Bear Jamboree Queue Walkthrough
The queue entrance is located outside in the Frontierland area of Magic Kingdom. Much like the Hall of Presidents, this stage show really doesn’t have much of a queue at all. You will enter the lobby and simply wait (in the AC, I might add) for the next show to begin. There are some benches as well as some cute country-Western theming for you to look at, making it a great and relaxing place to escape the heat and rest your feet while you wait.
Country Bear Jamboree Walkthrough
Once entering the theater, you will find a seat and the show will begin shortly. It opens with Buff, Max, and Melvin quipping back and forth before what is essentially a performance of country-Western songs sung by various members of the cast. If you’re interested in looking up lyrics, the lineup is as follows:
- “Pianjo” by Gomer and Henry
- “Bear Band Serenade” by The Five Bear Rugs, Henry, and Gomer
- “If you Can’t Bite, Don’t Growl” by The Five Bear Rugs and Ernest
- “My Woman Ain’t Pretty (But She Don’t Swear None)” by Liver Lips

That’s it! Remember, everyone’s riding experience is a little bit different and only you can decide whether to hop on that ride vehicle or not. I just hope this guide helps you be prepared and enjoy every second of your Disney experience!
