rock n roller coaster

1. Ride Length

Rock n Roller Coaster has a ride duration of 1 minute and 22 seconds.

2. Height Requirement and Warnings

Rock n Roller Coaster has a height requirement of 48 inches. This makes it the highest height restriction in Disney World.

3. Ride Vehicles and Restraints

The Rock n Roller Coaster ride vehicles consist of 6 cars, with 2 rows seating 2 riders each. Each passenger gets their own overhead harness.

4. How does Rock n Roller Coaster Work?

This attraction works like a standard roller coaster with various twists, loops, and drops. What makes this attraction unique is the initial launch, taking riders from 0 to 57 miles per hour in a couple of seconds.

5. Is Rock n Roller Coaster Scary?

Rock n Roller Coaster is not intentionally scary at all. It has no spooky theming whatsoever, but is one of the more intense coasters on Disney property. If thrilling ride elements intimidate you, this might be a good one to steer clear of. In addition to it’s wild thrills, this ride also features loud music, colorful neon lights, and a rather disorienting landscape.

6. How High is Rock n Roller Coaster?

Rock n Roller Coaster does not involve heights. While the track technically has a height of 80 ft, this indoor dark coaster doesn’t feel like you’re high off the ground at all and doesn’t include any lifts.

7. How Fast is Rock n Roller Coaster?

Rock n Roller Coaster goes very fast. With its initial launch taking you from 0 to 57 mph in 2.8 seconds, this coaster definitely packs some speed. In fact, you experience 4 to 5 G-forces during the course of the ride – similar to what an astronaut experiences – yowza!

8. Does Rock n Roller Coaster Have Drops?

Rock n Roller Coaster does have drops. More notably, however, it’s the only ride in Walt Disney World to feature inversions. In other words, this bad boy goes upside down. You’ll experience both loops and corkscrews, making it one of the more intense and thrilling coasters on property.

In addition, this attraction could also be described as quite turbulent just due to its age. You’re definitely in for a bumpy ride – in fact, my dad got an actual concussion on this coaster due to his head banging against the overhead harness.

Just a tip – if you plan on riding this coaster (specifically in the back of the train where riders tend to get whipped around), be sure to push your head back against the seat to keep from rattling against the harness.

9. Does Rock n Roller Coaster Cause Motion Sickness?

Rock n Roller Coaster should not cause motion sickness to most riders.

10. Is Rock n Roller Coaster Claustrophobic?

Rock n Roller Coaster could feel claustrophobic to some riders. This ride features an overhead harness that could feel confining – especially while waiting for the train to launch. However, with its short ride duration and non-stop thrills, the overall experience doesn’t seem too restricting.

It’s worth noting, however, that there is a 2 minute pre-show video that takes place in an enclosed room – but again, it’s very short.

11. Are There Animatronics on Rock n Roller Coaster?

There are no animatronics on Rock n Roller Coaster.

Rock n Roller Coaster Queue Walkthrough

The queue entrance is located outside – just past the huge electric guitar – and takes you through a covered concrete ramp and into the building. You’ll make your way through a few rooms of the music studio before being ushered into a recording room for the pre-show.

As I mentioned before, the pre-show only lasts around 2 minutes and introduces you to the members of Aerosmith. You’ll exit the recording room and head down a hallway before making your way into the “alley” where your limo awaits.

You’ll get a good view of the ride vehicles and get to watch a few trains launch while you wait – so it’s a great opportunity to check things out before you ride. Finally, you’ll arrive at the loading platform and prepare to board.

Rock n Roller Coaster Ride Walkthrough

The ride itself starts with that notorious launch – giving you 5 to 6 Gs in its 0 to 60 acceleration. You’ll be thrown immediately into a loop and take off through the nighttime cityscape of downtown LA.

With the ride being as turbulent as it is, it’s honestly really hard to make out exactly where you’re going and the whole thing is over in less than 90 seconds – making for a pretty wild but disorienting ride. You’ll be surrounded by neon street signs and classic Aerosmith tunes as you soar through several loops and corkscrews – and just like that, you’ll arrive back at the loading station.

That’s it! Remember, everyone’s riding experience is a little bit different and only you can decide whether to hop on that ride vehicle or not. I just hope this guide helps you be prepared and enjoy every second of your Disney experience!
